Yoo Seung Ho, made his debut in Korean show business
at the age of 6, appearing various dramas like “The Legend” “The Sad Love
Story” soon after he came under the spotlight.
After he took a role for “Missing You” which was major
hit drama on MBC, he entered into the military service. He was gone for almost 2 years although he promised
Japanese fans to come back soon.
At last he got a discharged from the military service
this month, he held a fan meeting at Nihon-Seinenkan Hall on Dec.25th that
he fulfilled his promise right away. Many fans came there on Christmas Day. The seats of
the hall were full to capacity. “Welcome back, Yoo Seung Ho!” after fans cheering, he
showed up on the stage. He appeared in red coat taking Christmas color, white
shirts, black leather pants, which caught fans eyes.
“Good evening. I am Yoo Seung Ho” he spoke in
Japanese. “Thank you for coming. I made my goodbye to you here before I entered
into the military service about 2 years ago. I think there are more fans here today
than the last time. When I was at the backstage, I was almost died of stress.
I am really happy to see you all. I would be happy if it’ll be an unforgettable
Christmas for you today”, he spoke in Korean slowly.

The first on this event was photo session for fans. It
was wonderful time for fans to take photos of his good looking. Then he answered
a lot of questions to make up for 2 years with fans.
Q1. When did you get a discharge from the military
service?
YSH: It was on Dec. 4th. It’s been 3 weeks
passed since I left there, but maybe there’s smell of soldiers from me yet.
Q2. Did you take a good rest since it’s been 3 weeks
from your discharge?
YSH: Yes. After I went back to my house, I
pulled
thing together the stuff for the military or uniform. And I sorted out
my
feelings. It was not short for me to spend time in the military for 2
years. I
had a lot of experiences there, which was valuable and memorable time
for me. But
I had already known about my work after discharge, and I had known that
we would meet here like this, so I needed time to end my life as a
soldier we would meet here like this, so I needed time to end my life as

Q3. What did you want to do the most when you were in
the military service?
YSH: I wanted to get up late in the morning. I had to
get up at 6 in the morning, so I wanted to oversleep. I woke up at 9 today. I
wake up after sunrise recently.
Q4. How was the fan meeting in Osaka yesterday?
YSH: Yesterday I was more nervous than today. I held a
fan meeting only in Tokyo 2 years ago. This time I did it in Osaka, but when I
accepted the job offer for Osaka, I wondered if there were my fans or not
there. Actually many fans came there like today, and they gave big cheers to me
and I was surprised and realized my discharge there.
Q5. When did you debut in Korean show business?
YSH: It might be the kindergarten… so at the age of 6?
I think it was the age of 5 or 6.
Q6. What were you thinking most in the military?
YSH: I spent time in the military for 2 years giving
up my career as a celebrity. I looked back my social life as an actor in the past. Especially when I was watching TV there, I saw
actors or celebrities the same as my age, they were doing great there, but me
in the military at that time, I thought why I was here and I felt like defeat.
Honestly sometimes I got down in the dumps. But as the months went by, when I finished my life in
the military, I came to think it was a good time to think what I should do
after my discharge. It was meaningful time for me.

Q7. Have you decided the next role as an actor?
YSH: Yes, I have. I’ll take a main role for “Chosun
Magician”. The reason why I choose this job is because I like my character and the
director for it. He is great and reliable man. I was in the military for 2
years, so I might lose my touch as an actor. But I believe he will lead me to
be a good actor, that’s why I decided to take this.
Q8. Is your role “a magician?”
YSH: Yes, It is. But I haven’t started to prepare for
the magician. I think to start training from Jan. 2015.
Q9. What about your romance?
YSH: (laughing)
for me, top priority is my work. After I could take hold as an actor, I want to
go abroad. I want to expand my view, and I’m interested in other languages. That’s why I want to trip abroad. Then next is love.
Q10. What your ideal woman is?
YSH: I like the woman who is innocent, working hard without
distraction.
Q11. How much Japanese language do you understand?
YSH: I used to learn Japanese at my high school. I
could understand easy words like “I’m hungry” “I want to go …” like that, even
though it’s not a perfect conversation, listening was not bad. But after I
graduated from school, I didn’t use Japanese at all, so I just remember like
greetings and “Where is the bathroom?” I don’t know other words.
Q12. What is your next year’s resolution?
YSH: 열심히 뛰어보자( let’s
make a run for the future) I had think a lot in the military for 2 years. The
time I spent there was like a stretch time for me. This means I had been
prepared to warm up myself, so I’ll make a run from now on.

He answered various kinds of the questions like the
episode of the military, or his life after his discharge, about the plan for
the next role as an actor, and about the love. Next was that some fans chosen
by lot came up on the stage, they could ask questions to YSH directly.
One of fans on the stage asked about 2 kittens he has.
He said 2 kitten’s name are “Sam-wol” ( 3월) and “Myeong-wol” (명월). This means March and a bright moon. He said that I took them to my house for my mother. I
thought she would feel lonely after I entered into the military. So I asked
them to bother her not to miss me while I left there. This episode touched his
fans heart.
After these questions, the games went on with another
8 fans chosen by lot. They played gesture games with YSH. For 4 winners of the
game, YSH did photo shoots with a fan, or he expressed his love to a fan with
holding hands, or he covered a fan’s hand with cream, and he played with a fan
on the stage called “Kabe-Don” which is popular in Japan. These gifts were all
closely-attached with him.
Yoo Seung Ho said that “I had prepared a lot and
played the piano and sang a song for fans last time 2 years ago. This time I
had no time to do it well since after my discharge, so I made a lot of
opportunities for fans to play with me more closely”.
He enjoyed not only playing with fans on the stage,
but also he went down to the audience seats and played paper-rock-scissors with
fans there.
Since it was Christmas Day, YSH gave shoes as a gift
to fans, and fans sang a song for him as a gift.
The Christmas cake was set in front of him and fans on
the stage. He blew candles of the cake, ate it with fans together. They enjoyed
this party like that.

Finally, Yoo Seung Ho read a letter to fans. He said he
took a long time to finish writing a letter for fans, so he had been sitting in
front of the PC until 1 am last night. It brought fans to tears. And “I can’t
express my feelings when I saw the seats all packed in this hall today. I am so
happy to be here on the stage today. “When I was in the military, it was tough time for me,
but now I found that fans had a harder time waiting for me for a long time. I don’t come up with the right words for you, so I
just want to say thank you so much for coming and appreciate to share your time
today. If I have a chance to play a role
for something in Japan, I would like to show you in the future. But first I
would like you to see my works made in Korea. Thank you so much. Merry
Christmas!” He finished reading a long message to fans. He got a
lot of applause from fans.
After the event, he gave all fans a hand shake. It was precious time for fans on Christmas day.
A letter from Yoo Seung Ho
Hello. I am Yoo Seung Ho. This was the second fan
meeting in Tokyo today.
I feel honored to see you again today. I appreciate to
be welcomed, always loving me even though I have never worked in Japan. I have
thought like that from the first fan meeting. I hope I will see you with my
good work in the future.
Before I entered into the military, I was feeling
stress against the interest or love to me in public.
Meanwhile I had the other thought it was no wonder their
interest for me at that time.
Through the time of the military service, I learned a
lot and realized how much I had been loved from people, I reflected on my past
thought. I had a precious time to think myself in the military.
Army life got strengthened me up and I matured as a
person. It’s priceless and I’ll keep it for my memories. I’ll do my best to
meet your expectations as you believed in and waited for me. I hope to show you
my good works near the future.
As I spoke in Korea before, I’ve got a new goal as an
actor. You gave me lots of love even though I didn’t do well. Next I’ll give
back to you. I want to be an actor bringing you happiness. I would be happy if
you enjoy watching my works in happiness, I want to be an actor thinking well
for you and I’ll do my best. I appreciate my health. I am happy to have my
dream. I am thankful that I can give performances. I appreciate all people
always worry and cheering me. I feel grateful you always love me.
I am very lucky person.
Did you have a good time today? I left from the
military and I am here in happiness as the same as the last time I felt. Thank
you for coming. I had a wonderful time today.
It’s getting colder outside. I think healthy is the
most important thing for everyone. Please take care of yourself. I wish you
every success with your work in 2015. Thank you.
